ALEXANDER BLANCO

Born in Luzern, one of Switzerland’s top tourist destinations and fascinated by the thousands of yearly visitors from abroad, it became soon clear to me that the world was a stage to step onto, offering an immense treasure of enriching experiences.

Being my father Spanish and my mother German, I first started to discover the variety of Germany’s landscape and the vibrant Iberian Peninsula. It was during High School and increasingly during my studies at the University of Zurich (lic.phil.) that I became interested in Latin America. My focus spanned over a broad area of topics, such as the history of colonialism and independence, modern politics, as well as the linguistic diversity of the region. I further deepened my knowledge during my postgraduate studies at the University of Oxford (M.Sc.) in 2007, specializing in economics and politics.

A 4-month road trip through South America enabled me to deep dive into the rich culture and the fascinating sceneries of the subcontinent. Having started my banking career at Credit Suisse as business support manager, it was only a question of time until I’d get my chance to be part of the bank’s Latin American desk.  And indeed, it’s been more than 10 years now that I’ve been involved in the Wealth Management business covering clients from South America, mainly Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay. Credit Suisse gave me the best education in terms of how to successfully manage a client book by advising clients in a way that considers their financial needs as well as their risk profile. The bank also supported me in obtaining the Certificate of International Investment Analyst (CIIA) in 2016.

Due to constant strategic positioning and management changes and with new challenges in mind, I decided to leave Credit Suisse in 2019 and to embark into new adventures. After a stay at a private bank in Geneva, Bordier & Cie, I joined Axxets and former ex colleagues of Credit Suisse in 2021 to become an independent client advisor. I truly believe that this setup is the best way to relentlessly focus on the clients and to offer them the best solutions without any conflicts of interests and inconsistent management goals or policies.
